Rain Delays IPL 2026 Match Between RCB and KKR in Raipur
Rain Disrupts IPL Clash in Raipur
The highly anticipated match of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) featuring Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has been postponed due to unexpected rain at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Stadium in Raipur. The city has experienced unseasonal rainfall, causing a delay in the commencement of the game. This match marks RCB's final home game of the season, which has seen them play across two different venues. Initially, the defending champions hosted their first five matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, their traditional home ground, before relocating to Raipur, marking the first time this venue has served as their home base.
Weather Update for RCB vs KKR
Fortunately for cricket enthusiasts, the weather forecast indicates that the delay may not extend for long. According to AccuWeather, there is no expected rain for the remainder of the evening. Once the rain subsides, the game's resumption will depend on how quickly the ground staff can dry the outfield.
Reason for Raipur Hosting IPL Matches
In January, a meeting took place between RCB CEO Rajesh Menon, BCCI Joint Secretary Prabhtej Singh Bhatia, and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, leading to the decision for RCB to play two home matches at this venue. The 2026 IPL marks the league's return to Raipur after a decade, with the city having previously hosted six matches between the 2013 and 2016 seasons, serving as a secondary home ground for the Delhi Daredevils (DD).
Pitch Inspection Scheduled
The umpires have scheduled a pitch inspection for 8:15 PM IST. Should the match commence after 8:30 PM IST, overs will be reduced, and a complete 20-over match may not be feasible.
