Punjab Kings Maintain Dominance in IPL 2026 with Victory Over Lucknow Super Giants
Punjab Kings Secure Top Position
Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, the Punjab Kings have solidified their position at the top of the IPL 2026 points table following a commanding 54-run victory against the Lucknow Super Giants in match 29, held in Mullanpur. Meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders, captained by Ajinkya Rahane, celebrated their first win of the season by defeating the Rajasthan Royals by four wickets at Eden Gardens. This victory marked the end of their six-match winless streak, elevating them to the ninth position in the standings.
The Kolkata Knight Riders' success came at the expense of the Mumbai Indians, who now find themselves at the bottom of the table with just one win from five matches, currently on a four-match losing streak. Their sole victory was against KKR in their opening match. As it stands, LSG, KKR, and MI occupy the last three spots in the rankings.
On the other hand, the Punjab Kings have become the first team to accumulate 10 or more points this season, currently sitting at 11 points and remaining unbeaten. Their performance has been nothing short of impressive. Following PBKS, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Rajasthan Royals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad round out the top four teams, each with 8 points, while Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans have 6 points each. As the tournament progresses, teams will be eager to improve their standings.

KKR and PBKS Shine in Sunday Matches
The Kolkata Knight Riders achieved their first IPL 2026 win against the Rajasthan Royals, thanks to a stellar performance from Rinku Singh, who scored 53 runs off 34 balls. Singh was dropped early in his innings when he had only eight runs. This victory lifted KKR off the bottom of the table and prevented the Rajasthan Royals from taking the top spot. The Royals' progress was hindered by strong bowling performances from Varun Chakaravarthy (3/14), Kartik Tyagi (3/22), and Sunil Narine (2/26), following a promising start from their opening batsmen, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Despite a strong start, the Royals lost momentum, finishing at 124/5 after losing three wickets for 99 runs. Jaiswal scored 39 runs, while Sooryavanshi contributed 46 runs from 28 balls. The opening pair had a solid powerplay, scoring 63 runs without losing a wicket.
In the evening match, the Punjab Kings triumphed over the Lucknow Super Giants by 54 runs, led by impressive innings from Priyansh Arya (93) and Cooper Connolly (87). PBKS set a remarkable total of 254/7, the highest of the season, surpassing RCB's previous record of 250/3. Their second-wicket partnership of 182 runs in just 13.2 overs was a highlight. Although LSG's captain Rishabh Pant (43), Mitchell Marsh (40), and Aiden Markram (42) tried to respond, they could only manage 200 runs for 5 in their 20 overs.
