PSG Secures Victory Against Barcelona

Paris [France], October 21: Paris Saint-Germain showcased their dominance in the UEFA Champions League with a 4-2 win against Barcelona at the Parc des Princes. This victory marks their 13th consecutive unbeaten match in the tournament, handing Barcelona their first loss of the 2026-27 season.

Goals from Desire Doue, Lucas Hernandez, Vitinha, and Fabian Ruiz ensured PSG maintained their perfect record at the top of the Champions League standings. Barcelona managed to score through Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal but could not secure any points.

PSG started aggressively, applying pressure on Barcelona right from the beginning. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia hit the post within the first five minutes, while Ousmane Dembele and Doue also tested goalkeeper Joan Garcia.

Barcelona struggled to keep possession early on, and their situation worsened when Dembele appeared to sustain a hamstring injury, leading to his substitution by Ferran Torres.

As the match progressed, Barcelona found their footing, with Matvey Safonov making a crucial save against Raphinha. Meanwhile, Garcia was busy at the other end, thwarting attempts from Torres and Fabian Ruiz as PSG continued to press.

Just before halftime, Doue broke the deadlock with a powerful shot into the bottom corner, giving PSG a well-deserved lead.

Barcelona had a chance to equalize shortly after when Pedri set up Fermin Lopez, but he failed to convert in a one-on-one against Safonov.

After the break, Barcelona came out with renewed energy, but Garcia was again called into action to stop a quick PSG counter-attack.

Barcelona eventually leveled the score with Espart, who made a memorable Champions League debut by sprinting through the PSG defense and scoring past Safonov.

With injuries to Kvaratskhelia and Marquinhos disrupting PSG's flow, Barcelona began to take control. Torres nearly put them ahead but hit the post with 20 minutes to go.

PSG capitalized on the ensuing corner, with Lucas Hernandez heading in to regain the lead against the run of play.

Barcelona responded again as Yamal outpaced Warren Zaire-Emery, scoring from a tight angle to equalize at 2-2 with just 12 minutes remaining.

However, the tie lasted only two minutes as Vitinha struck from the edge of the penalty area to put PSG back in front, followed by a late goal from Fabian Ruiz to secure the win.

This result solidifies PSG's position at the top of the Champions League table, while Barcelona must address their ongoing defensive issues, having now gone 18 matches without a clean sheet in the competition.
