Prithvi Shaw's Journey and Aspirations

Once hailed as a promising talent in Indian cricket, Prithvi Shaw made a remarkable entry into the national team with a century on his Test debut. However, his career faced numerous challenges, leading to a decline in his performance and eventual exclusion from the national squad. Shaw went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction but has been given another opportunity in IPL 2026, as the Delhi Capitals acquired him for ₹75 lakhs after previously releasing him. He is determined to seize this chance.

In a recent interview with a sports channel, Shaw expressed his desire to return to the Indian team, stating, "If I don't think about a comeback, then what's the point? That's why I am playing. Who doesn't want to play for India? You have to be there, and I am working towards that."

'A Year of Reflection and Growth'

Shaw shared that he took a much-needed break over the past year, which allowed him to recharge and return with renewed motivation. He emphasized his commitment to training, aiming to excel as an opening batter for Delhi Capitals. "I enjoyed my life in the last year. I traveled to a few places to refresh my mind. Now, I am back to my routine, practicing and working harder than ever. I believe this break was essential for me to come back stronger mentally," he noted.

Reflecting on his recent IPL performances, Shaw acknowledged that they have been inconsistent. He understands the expectations placed on an opening batter and is committed to giving his all in practice, as he believes that effort in training translates to success on the field.
