Lisbon [Portugal], September 25: In the opening match of the UEFA Nations League, Portugal triumphed over Wales with a score of 1-0, despite a quiet performance from star striker Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 41-year-old Ronaldo, who was selected following a disappointing FIFA World Cup, was unable to convert any of his seven attempts on goal, including a straightforward opportunity in the second half. The only goal of the match came from his Al Nassr teammate Joao Felix in the 22nd minute, as reported by a Media House.

Ronaldo was substituted after 67 minutes of play. The goal by Felix was particularly unfortunate for Wales, as it was deflected off Ben Davies. Portugal dominated the match with a total of 22 shots compared to Wales' five, showcasing their aggressive offensive strategy.

Ronaldo had a challenging day, failing to elevate his free kick in the 36th minute and sending a volley wide shortly after. Norway's scoring continued with goals from Mikkel Damsgaard in the 25th minute and Rasmus Hojlund in the 60th minute, before Haaland sealed the win with a quick strike from a corner kick.
