Prime Minister Modi Congratulates Silver Medalists

In a recent announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Manisha Keer, Neeru Dhanda, and Aashima Ahlawat for their impressive silver medal achievement in the Women's Trap Team event at the Asian Games. He commended their dedication and teamwork.

The trio secured silver with a total score of 328, while China claimed the gold with 346 points, and Kuwait took home the bronze with 325. Among the team, Dhanda stood out as India's top performer, scoring 118 out of 125.

According to a post from the Prime Minister's Office, Modi stated, "Congratulations to Manisha Keer, Neeru, and Aashima Ahlawat on winning the Silver medal in the Women’s Trap Team event at the Asian Games. It was a commendable display of precision, focus, and teamwork. May the entire team continue to excel and bring more laurels to India."

Neeru Dhanda Makes History with Individual Gold

PM Modi also praised Neeru Dhanda for her remarkable achievement as the first Indian woman to win an individual Trap Gold at the Asian Games, highlighting her skill and composure, which he believes will motivate young shooters across the nation.

He remarked, "Neeru Dhanda has given India a historic moment to celebrate! Congratulations to her on becoming the first Indian woman to win an individual Gold in Trap at the Asian Games. Her exceptional accuracy and composure have brought immense pride to the nation. This achievement will encourage many more young sportspersons to take up shooting and aim for the highest honours."

Dhanda's Stellar Performance in the Final

On Tuesday, Dhanda delivered an outstanding performance to clinch the women's individual trap gold medal at the Asian Games 2026, marking India's fifth gold at the Aichi-Nagoya Games. She excelled in both the qualification rounds and the final.

Starting strong, Dhanda hit all five targets in her first series. Although she missed one in the second series, she quickly regained her focus and maintained her position. In the latter rounds, she showcased an impressive run.

Achieving a perfect score in the third round, she surged back to the lead and continued with another strong performance, finishing with 19 hits out of 20 after four series. After 25 shots, Dhanda led Sun 23-21, with Hajar also at 21 before being eliminated. She held her composure in the final moments to secure the gold medal.
