During his visit to the United Kingdom, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal expressed his admiration for the Indian women's cricket team at a welcome reception. He highlighted their remarkable achievements and the positive impact they have on the nation.


In a message shared on X, Goyal referred to the gathering as a "fantastic evening with the Women in Blue," emphasizing their role in motivating countless young girls and aspiring athletes through their dedication and excellence.


He conveyed his best wishes to the team for the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, hoping they maintain their strong performances and secure the championship for India.

India kicked off their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup journey with a strong 64-run win against their rivals Pakistan, followed by a convincing 95-run victory over the Netherlands.


However, the Women in Blue encountered a challenge in their subsequent group match, losing to South Africa by six wickets.


Harmanpreet Kaur’s team bounced back impressively, defeating Bangladesh by five wickets to revive their campaign.


India's next challenge is against Australia in their final group-stage match on Sunday, where a victory would greatly enhance their chances of reaching the semifinals.


Currently, India stands second in Group A with six points, while Australia leads with eight points, and South Africa is in third place, also with six points.
