Parul Chaudhary's Remarkable Performance at Asian Games

In Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, Indian athlete Parul Chaudhary expressed her joy after winning two medals at the Asian Games 2026, highlighting her satisfaction with her performance amid fierce competition.


On Monday, Parul secured her second bronze medal in just three days, finishing third in the women's 5000m race with a time of 15:14.61.


She battled fiercely to clinch the bronze, finishing 1.46 seconds behind Japan's Nozomi Tanaka, who took the silver with a time of 15:11.65. The gold medal was won by Bahrain's Winfred Yavi, who clocked in at 15:10.18.


This bronze in the 5000m came just a day after Parul earned a bronze in the women's 3000m steeplechase, where she set a new national record with a time of 9:08.67.


After her victory on Monday, Parul shared her happiness with the media, expressing her excitement about winning two medals and her eagerness to return home to her family.


She remarked, "It feels really good. Last time in Hangzhou, I also took two medals, but this time the colour has changed; last time the colour was something else. Otherwise, I am happy with this performance because I knew the competition was very tough this time. I just want to go home and spend time with my family, and since I am bringing a medal for my countrymen, it feels really good."


Parul's journey in Aichi-Nagoya began with the women's 1500m final on September 26, where she finished fourth with a time of 4:09.46. She then secured bronze in the 3000m steeplechase on September 27 before adding another bronze in the 5000m on Monday.


Competing in three finals over three consecutive days, Parul managed to return to the podium in two events while finishing fourth in the 1500m.


Her latest bronze contributes to India's athletics medal tally at the Asian Games, showcasing a strong finish in a tightly contested women's 5000m final.


Previously, at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, Parul had won gold in the women's 5000m and silver in the 3000m steeplechase.


With Parul's recent bronze, India's overall medal count has reached 42, including four gold, 18 silver, and 20 bronze medals. Currently, India stands 12th in the medal rankings, with athletics contributing 16 of the country's total medals at this continental event.
