Pakistan Women's Cricket Team Achieves Historic ODI Series Sweep Against Zimbabwe
Pakistan Women Dominate Zimbabwe in ODI Series
Karachi [Pakistan], May 11: The Pakistan women's cricket team has made headlines by achieving a significant 3-0 clean sweep in their ODI series against Zimbabwe. This victory has propelled them to the second position in the ICC Women’s Championship 2025-29 standings, trailing only behind New Zealand, according to the ICC's official website.
In addition to this series win, Pakistan celebrated their largest ODI victory to date, with a remarkable 206-run win in the second match. Star player Gull Feroza continued her stellar performance, scoring another century in the third ODI, making her only the second female cricketer from Pakistan to hit back-to-back ODI hundreds.
Feroza also set a new record for the fastest ODI century by a Pakistani woman, achieving this milestone in just 83 balls.
Throughout the series, Feroza and Sadaf Shamas combined for a staggering 571 runs, marking the highest partnership total by a duo in a bilateral ODI series.
Wahab Riaz, the mentor of the Pakistan women's team, praised the squad for their collective effort, emphasizing that their success stemmed from teamwork and consistent performances rather than individual accolades. He stated, “The performances have been exceptional in this series. It’s not just one player who leads to victory; it’s the entire team working hard together. I believe the way you all played was fantastic, so congratulations to everyone.”
Looking ahead, Pakistan will face Zimbabwe again in a T20I series starting on May 12. The team aims to maintain their winning streak as they prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
