Novak Djokovic Shares His Wimbledon Legacy and Cricket Aspirations
Djokovic Reflects on Wimbledon and Cricket
Novak Djokovic recently discussed the significance of Wimbledon in his career and the legacy he has built in tennis. During an interview on JioStar, he expressed his admiration for Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli and shared his plans to visit India soon.
Djokovic stated, "I would love to engage in some cricket and tennis with Virat Kohli. We have been in touch about my upcoming trip to India. I recognize that Virat is a global sensation, particularly in India, where he is revered. I would be thrilled for him to host me and show me around. I hold him and Indian cricket in high regard. Cricket isn't widely played in Serbia, my home country, but some of my team members are British and passionate about the sport. Over the past 10 to 15 years, I've been learning about cricket. I still have room for improvement in my skills, and perhaps Virat could assist me with my batting technique and swing. I genuinely respect him and would love the opportunity to meet him in India," he remarked.
Reflecting on his Wimbledon journey, Djokovic noted, "Much of my legacy is tied to my achievements at Wimbledon. I've often stated this openly. Winning this tournament was a childhood dream of mine. I aspired to excel here, to win Wimbledon, and to become the world number one. I was fortunate to achieve that in 2011. Winning the tournament seven times and competing in numerous finals has been an extraordinary experience. For some reason, I consistently deliver my best tennis on this grass surface, especially on Centre Court. The energy, history, and atmosphere elevate my performance. I cherish these opportunities and am grateful to continue shaping my own history and that of the sport. Competing at this level and reaching another quarter-final is significant for me. I hope to advance further in this year's tournament," he concluded.
