Djokovic's Historic Win at Wimbledon

London [UK], July 5: Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic has once again made headlines by achieving a significant milestone at Wimbledon this past Sunday.

Despite not being in peak form, the 39-year-old seven-time champion showcased his resilience by defeating qualifier Roman Safiullin with a score of 7-6(6), 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 on Centre Court. This victory secured Djokovic a spot in his ninth consecutive Wimbledon quarter-final and marked the 17th time he has reached this stage at the All England Club.

With this win, Djokovic has now recorded 106 singles victories at Wimbledon, surpassing Roger Federer to claim the record for the most men's singles wins in the tournament's history. Only Martina Navratilova, who has 120 singles wins, has more victories at Wimbledon than Djokovic.

Reflecting on the match, Djokovic stated, “It was another tough battle. Roman started off strong and aggressive. I didn’t feel entirely comfortable from the back of the court, and I anticipated a challenging match. He’s a solid player, and he should be proud of his performance today.”

Djokovic, a former No. 1 in the ATP Rankings, continued, “I don’t often feel outmatched from the back of the court, but today was different. I had to adjust my strategy; sometimes it worked, and sometimes it didn’t. Ultimately, my first serve's accuracy helped me navigate through tough moments.”

Now, Djokovic is just one win away from a potential showdown against World No. 1 and defending champion Jannik Sinner, who defeated him in the semi-finals last year. However, before that, he must first face either third seed Felix Auger-Aliassime or 22nd seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the quarter-finals.
