Neymar to Miss Brazil's Match Against Haiti Due to Injury Recovery
Neymar's Absence from FIFA World Cup Match
Philadelphia [US], June 18: Brazilian football icon Neymar will not accompany his teammates to Philadelphia for their upcoming FIFA World Cup match against Haiti, set for Saturday. The Brazilian football federation confirmed that he is still recovering from a calf injury.
A statement from the Brazilian football association indicated that Neymar will remain in New Jersey to focus on the final stages of his rehabilitation. They noted, "He will stay in New Jersey to maximize his recovery, utilizing the excellent facilities at The Ridge hotel and the Columbia Park training center," ruling out his travel with the squad on Friday.
The 34-year-old forward had a brief return to team activities, participating in drills after a separate warm-up session on Wednesday. However, he has primarily been engaged in indoor training with the team's physiotherapists and fitness staff.
Brazil is eager for Neymar's swift return, as his presence is crucial for enhancing the team's attacking capabilities. There are concerns that he might miss the entire group stage, as the team adopts a cautious approach, aiming for him to be fit for the knockout rounds. Reports suggest that Neymar is doubtful for the match against Haiti and may miss the group stage entirely due to the calf injury he sustained in May while playing for Santos.
