This post is the clearest sign yet that Neymar is on the verge of returning from a calf injury that has kept him sidelined during Brazil's first two matches in the tournament.
Neymar missed Brazil's opening match, which ended in a 1-1 draw against Morocco, and was also absent during their 3-0 win over Haiti. This victory positioned Carlo Ancelotti's team at the top of Group C, putting them in a strong position to progress to the knockout stages.
While his teammates traveled to Philadelphia for the match against Haiti, Neymar stayed back in New Jersey to focus on his rehabilitation. Over the weekend, he resumed training on the field, engaging in physical exercises and ball drills to enhance his recovery.
Brazil's head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has hinted that Neymar is close to rejoining the squad and may be ready for the upcoming match against Scotland. Ancelotti stated, "Neymar will be training tomorrow individually and on Monday he’s going to be training with the rest of the team. He will be available for the match against Scotland."
If he plays, the Scotland match will be Neymar's first appearance for Brazil since suffering a serious ACL injury in October 2023 during a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay. This injury kept him out for a significant time and limited his participation in Brazil's qualification matches.
The match against Scotland could also be a significant moment in Neymar's international career, as this tournament marks his fourth FIFA World Cup, following his appearances in 2014, 2018, and 2022.
Despite his injury challenges, Neymar has made a notable impact when fit, contributing two goals and three assists in four qualifying matches.
With Brazil on the brink of advancing to the knockout rounds, Neymar's return could provide a crucial boost as they prepare to face Scotland on Wednesday (Local Time).
