Indian Athletes Gear Up for Commonwealth Games 2026

Glasgow [Scotland], July 30: Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra is set to be one of the prominent Indian athletes competing at the Commonwealth Games 2026, kicking off his journey in the men's javelin throw qualification event on Thursday.


India will also commence its track cycling events, while competitions in athletics, weightlifting, and lawn bowls are ongoing at the Games, as reported by a sports network.


Chopra's javelin qualification is anticipated to be a highlight for India, as the celebrated athlete aims to secure a spot in the finals and uphold the nation's impressive performance in athletics.


Tejaswin Shankar is also expected to start his decathlon events, although his participation may hinge on his fitness after experiencing knee issues during the men's high jump final on Monday night.
