Paris [France], June 1: N Sriram Balaji from India and his Brazilian partner Marcelo Demoliner have made headlines by advancing to the men's doubles quarterfinals at the French Open. They achieved this remarkable feat by defeating the sixth-seeded German team of Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz in straight sets, as reported by a sports news outlet.


The unseeded pair took one hour and 25 minutes to secure a 7-5, 6-4 victory over the seasoned Grand Slam champions during their Round of 16 match at Roland Garros.


This win is particularly significant for the 36-year-old Balaji, marking his first-ever Grand Slam quarterfinal appearance.


Following this victory, Balaji and Demoliner are set to face the formidable second-seeded duo of Harri Heliovaara from Finland and Henry Patten from Great Britain in the quarterfinals.


Earlier in the tournament, the Indo-Brazilian team triumphed over the unseeded German-Dutch pair of Constantin Frantzen and Robin Haase in a three-set match, and they also secured a straight-sets win against Jakob Schnaitter and Mark Wallner in the second round.

They started strong by breaking their opponents early in the third game, gaining control of the first set. Although Frantzen and Haase fought back in the second set, breaking Balaji and Demoliner in the seventh game, the Indo-Brazilian pair regained their momentum in the deciding set, ultimately sealing their place in the second round.
