MS Dhoni, the former captain of India, has once again been recognized as the highest individual income taxpayer in the Bihar-Jharkhand area for the fiscal year 2025-26. Sudhakar Rao, the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax for the region, confirmed that Dhoni maintained his top position among individual taxpayers. While the exact amount he paid has not been disclosed, officials affirmed his status as the leading taxpayer.


Dhoni's deep-rooted connections to Ranchi and Jharkhand, where he is celebrated as a sports icon, are further solidified by this recognition. Dr. Rao reported that the total tax collection from Bihar and Jharkhand for the financial year reached approximately Rs 20,000 crore, with Jharkhand contributing Rs 12,000 crore alone. He also shared that Bihar accounted for around Rs 8,000 crore, highlighting Jharkhand's stronger performance, attributed to its industrial and commercial growth.
