Mohit Sharma Bids Farewell to Cricket

On Wednesday, veteran Indian pacer Mohit Sharma officially declared his retirement from all formats of cricket, concluding a career that included 34 international matches and over ten years in the Indian Premier League.

The 37-year-old bowler, who played 26 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and eight T20 Internationals, shared his heartfelt announcement via an emotional post on Instagram, expressing gratitude to fans, teammates, and officials who supported him throughout his journey from Haryana to the international arena.

In his Instagram message, Sharma stated, "With a full heart, I announce my retirement from all forms of cricket." He reflected on his experiences, saying, "From representing Haryana to donning the India jersey and participating in the IPL, this journey has been a true blessing. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Haryana Cricket Association for being the foundation of my career, and to Anirudh Sir for his unwavering guidance and belief in me, which has shaped my path in ways I cannot fully articulate."

Making his debut for India in 2013, Mohit took 35 wickets in 26 ODIs and six in eight T20 matches. He was part of the Indian squad for the 2015 ODI World Cup and later became a reliable death-over bowler for Chennai Super Kings under the leadership of MS Dhoni.

He continued, "I am grateful to the BCCI, my coaches, teammates, IPL franchises, support staff, and all my friends for their unwavering support. A special mention to my wife, who has always managed my mood swings and anger, standing by me through it all. I look forward to contributing to the game in new ways. Thank you so much. In addition to CSK, Mohit also played for Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Gujarat Titans. Notably, he finished as the second-highest wicket-taker for the Titans in the 2023 season.
