The Australian fast bowler missed the initial eight matches of the season under the leadership of Axar Patel, and his matchup against Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is anticipated to be a highlight of the game. Alongside Starc, Pathun Nissanka and Ashutosh Sharma have also been added to the squad, while Dushmatha Chameera, David Miller, and Sahil Parakh will not participate.

Mitchell Starc's Absence Explained

Starc's absence from the start of the season was due to a shoulder injury, which he disclosed after facing backlash for not joining the team earlier. Last week, Cricket Australia confirmed that Starc received his No Objection Certificate (NOC) effective May 1, following his recovery. This match marks Starc's first competitive appearance since the 2025 Big Bash League (BBL). Having retired from T20 internationals, he was not included in Australia's squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
