Arsenal Crowned Champions After 22 Years

In a historic moment for Arsenal, manager Mikel Arteta has become the third-youngest individual to secure the Premier League title, following a 1-1 draw between Manchester City and AFC Bournemouth. This result confirmed Arsenal's position at the top of the 2025/26 league standings.

At just 44 years and 54 days old, Arteta joins the ranks of elite managers, with only Jose Mourinho winning the title at a younger age. Mourinho achieved this feat with Chelsea in the 2004/05 season at 42 years and 94 days, and again in 2005/06 at 43 years and 93 days, as noted by the Premier League.

Arteta has also set a record as the youngest manager in Arsenal's history to clinch the league title, surpassing George Graham, who was 124 days older when he led the team to victory in the 1988/89 season.

Taking the helm of The Gunners in 2019, Arteta is the first former Arsenal captain to guide the team to a top-flight championship.

He is only the second individual to have played in the Premier League and later won it as a manager, following Roberto Mancini, who played for Leicester City in 2001 and led Manchester City to their first title in the 2011/12 season.

Arsenal's triumph marks their first Premier League title in 22 years, with the last victory occurring in the 2003/04 season under manager Arsene Wenger and captain Patrick Vieira.

This title win comes after three consecutive second-place finishes, including a narrow loss to Manchester City by just two points in the 2023/24 season.

With this championship, Arsenal has now secured four Premier League titles, placing them two ahead of Liverpool and just one behind Chelsea. Manchester United remains the most successful club in the league's history with 13 titles, while Manchester City has eight. Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City have each won the trophy once.

The success of Arsenal's title-winning campaign can be attributed to a collective effort, with Viktor Gyokeres leading the scoring with 14 goals. Other key contributors include Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze, Leandro Trossard, Martin Zubimendi, Declan Rice, and Mikel Merino.

Assists have also been well-distributed, with Trossard, Martin Odegaard, Rice, Saka, Jurien Timber, and Gabriel Magalhaes each providing at least four assists throughout the season.
