Following this performance, Mayank faced significant backlash; however, former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop stepped in to defend him. Bishop highlighted that returning from injury and achieving speeds of 150 km/h is a remarkable feat. He encouraged fans to support Mayank and hope for his continued fitness, emphasizing that positive results will come with time. “Seeing negative remarks about Mayank Yadav is distressing. He nearly lost his career at just 21. The fact that he is back on the field is a significant achievement. Clocking 150 km/h again is nothing short of miraculous. At 23, we should all wish for his fitness. The control will improve,” Bishop expressed on social media.

Bishop further noted, “What truly matters is that Mayank Yadav is playing tonight. He has consistently reached speeds of 150 km/h in this match. With Mohsin Khan fit and Prince Yadav performing well, LSG is fortunate to have them under Shami's leadership.”

Mayank's Injury Struggles

Mayank Yadav initially gained attention for his ability to bowl at 150 km/h, but his journey has been hindered by injuries. After sustaining an injury during IPL 2024, he was unable to participate in IPL 2025 due to a back issue. Recognizing his potential, LSG retained him for 11 crore ahead of IPL 2026. Unfortunately, this recent loss has left LSG in ninth place on the points table, with only two victories and five defeats.
