Historic Victory for Maharashtra Under-19 Women
Pune (Maharashtra) [India], January 2: The Maharashtra Under-19 Women’s cricket team has made history by winning the BCCI Women’s Under-19 One Day Trophy for the 2025-26 season. They showcased an impressive all-round performance in the final match against Gujarat, held at the MCA International Stadium in Gahunje, Pune.
Gujarat, batting first, set a challenging target of 223 runs. Diya Vardhani was the standout performer with the bat, scoring 81 runs, while Charlie Solanki added a valuable 56 runs. Maharashtra's bowling attack was spearheaded by Prerna Sawant, who took three crucial wickets, and Grisha Kataria, who excelled with a remarkable four-wicket haul, consistently troubling the Gujarat batsmen.
In response, Maharashtra exhibited exceptional composure during their chase, successfully reaching 226 runs in just 39.4 overs, losing only three wickets and securing a convincing seven-wicket win. Jeeya Singh played a pivotal role, scoring a well-crafted 57 runs, while Akshaya Jadhav remained not out at 54. Bhavika Ahire also contributed significantly with a brisk unbeaten 46, guiding Maharashtra to a memorable victory.
