Maharashtra Government Partners with KDCA for New International Cricket Stadium
New Cricket Stadium and Sports Complex in Kolhapur
The Maharashtra government has officially entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Kolhapur District Cricket Association (KDCA) to establish the KDCA International Cricket Stadium and Sports Complex in Kolhapur.
On Tuesday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis oversaw the signing and exchange of a lease agreement between the Directorate of Sports and Youth Services of the state and the KDCA, aimed at developing a cricket stadium that meets international standards.
Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar and KDCA President SambhajiRaje Chhatrapati were also in attendance during this significant event.
This initiative is designed to enhance the region's sporting infrastructure and foster a thriving sports ecosystem.
According to a post from the Chief Minister's Office on X, "CM Devendra Fadnavis presided over the signing and exchange of a lease agreement between the Government of Maharashtra (Directorate of Sports and Youth Services) and the Kolhapur District Cricket Association (KDCA) for the development of an international-standard cricket stadium."

The ambitious project will include a cutting-edge residential cricket academy featuring advanced coaching facilities, a sports science center, both indoor and outdoor practice areas, physiotherapy and rehabilitation units, fitness centers, and accommodations for players.
Designed as a multi-sport facility, the campus will also provide amenities for wrestling, boxing, judo, fencing, archery, swimming, and table tennis, in addition to a cricket museum and a modern clubhouse.
Fadnavis emphasized Kolhapur's potential to become a significant sports hub following the lease agreement for the KDCA International Cricket Stadium and Sports Complex.
He stated, "Kolhapur is poised to emerge as a major sporting destination with the signing of the lease agreement for the proposed KDCA International Cricket Stadium and Sports Complex. This transformative initiative will create world-class infrastructure for training, competition, and athlete development, while also promoting various sports disciplines within one integrated campus," as noted in a post on X.

He further remarked, "By investing in modern sports infrastructure and nurturing young talent, Maharashtra continues to strengthen its commitment to producing the next generation of sporting champions."
