Lucknow Super Giants Face Punjab Kings in IPL 2026 Finale
Match Preview: LSG vs PBKS
The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant, are set to take on the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their final league match of IPL 2026. Currently, LSG finds themselves at the bottom of the points table with just four victories out of 13 matches, having been eliminated from the tournament early. A win against PBKS could elevate them to ninth place, but they risk dropping back to tenth if the Mumbai Indians (MI) secure a win against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their concluding game on Sunday, May 24.
Pant, who faced defeat in his last toss of the season, expressed his regret to the fans for the team's disappointing performance throughout the season. He stated, "We would have opted to bowl first as this pitch is favorable for batting, regardless of whether you bat or bowl first. It’s one of the better pitches we’ve played on this season, and I anticipate a high-scoring encounter. We have made two changes: Arjun Tendulkar and Arshin Kulkarni are coming in."
He further added, "This season has been challenging for us, but it has also provided valuable lessons for the team and me personally. We sincerely apologize to our fans who have supported us in large numbers from all over the country, especially from Uttar Pradesh. We are committed to returning stronger as a team, regardless of today’s outcome, and we will give our utmost effort to uplift our supporters."
