Litton Das Appointed as ODI Captain for Bangladesh

Dhaka [Bangladesh], July 29: Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das has been named the new captain of Bangladesh's ODI team as they gear up for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup next year.

The 31-year-old replaces Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who had been at the helm since June 2025 but stepped down following a 2-1 ODI series loss to Zimbabwe earlier this month.

During Miraz's tenure, the Tigers achieved 10 victories and faced nine defeats out of 20 matches. Under his guidance, Bangladesh made significant strides, securing series wins against teams like West Indies, Pakistan, Australia, and New Zealand at home, according to ICC reports.

Das, who is already leading the T20I squad, now extends his captaincy to the ODI format. He has previously captained the ODI team on an interim basis, achieving three wins in seven matches.

With a wealth of experience, Das has played 104 ODIs for Bangladesh, scoring 2869 runs at an average of 30.84 and a strike rate of 85.51, including five centuries and 14 half-centuries.
