Lakshya Sen's Road to Recovery and Success

New Delhi, November 3: Indian badminton player Lakshya Sen shared insights about his recent preparations and his return to peak performance, emphasizing the impact of a rigorous tournament schedule and injury issues on his training and fitness in the months following his win at the Hylo Open 2026.

Sen acknowledged that balancing his recovery from injuries while participating in tournaments posed a significant challenge. However, he noted that competing frequently before the Asian Games was instrumental in regaining his competitive edge and self-assurance.

He mentioned that the chance to engage in more matches, especially after a period of limited play during the World Championships, was vital for him to find his rhythm again.

“We have been on the move, participating in various tournaments, leaving little time for new training experiments. Nonetheless, I have made some adjustments during these competitions to enhance my game,” Sen explained to the media.

“Managing my injuries was quite challenging over the last few months. During that time, I explored different training methods, particularly regarding my workload. Fortunately, in the months leading up to the Asian Games, I was able to prepare effectively for the tournaments,” he added.

“I was eager to compete in as many matches as possible. These matches were crucial in helping me regain my match fitness. During events like the World Championships, I felt I was lacking in match practice. Since then, I have played numerous matches, which has significantly helped me get back into my rhythm and improve my fitness,” he noted.

Lakshya achieved a remarkable 21-17, 21-10 victory in the final, marking his seventh BWF World Tour title and his second win at the Hylo Open. He showcased an outstanding performance in the second game after winning the first 21-17.

He maintained dominance in the rallies and took advantage of errors from his opponent, Christie, to establish a seven-point lead at 16-9.

Despite Christie's efforts to mount a comeback, Lakshya kept the pressure on. Christie missed a crucial chance with a crosscourt smash that went wide, allowing Lakshya to edge closer to victory.

After successfully challenging a line call, Lakshya earned 10 match points and converted the next point, clinching the championship with a 21-10 win in the second game. This victory added to his previous Hylo Open title, bringing his total BWF World Tour titles to seven.
