The 12th seed triumphed over Hong Kong's Ng Ka Long Angus in a gripping three-game match, finishing with scores of 21-19, 21-23, and 21-10 after 81 minutes of play. This victory follows his earlier win against World No. 1 Shi Yuqi, showcasing his remarkable form.

In his first-round match, Lakshya defeated the reigning world champion Shi Yuqi in a closely contested battle, with scores of 23-21, 19-21, and 21-17, marking a significant achievement for the 24-year-old. This latest win against Ng was particularly noteworthy as it was their first encounter since the Malaysia Masters 2023, and it marked Lakshya's first victory over him.

Starting the match with confidence, Lakshya maintained an early lead, but Ng fought back to level the score at 19-19. Demonstrating resilience, Lakshya remained composed and capitalized on Ng's errors to secure the first game. In the second game, Lakshya initially surged ahead with an 11-4 lead, but Ng made a remarkable comeback, saving multiple match points to win the game 23-21, forcing a decisive third game.

Despite the pressure, Lakshya showcased his mental strength, refusing to be rattled by Ng's resurgence. His strategic play and improved footwork allowed him to dominate the final game, where he quickly established a significant lead of 20-9. Ultimately, Lakshya sealed the match with a score of 21-10, advancing to the quarterfinals where he is expected to face China's World No. 6 Li Shi Feng.
