Lakshya Raichandani Embraces Leadership Role

In New Delhi, India U19 captain Lakshya Raichandani expressed his enthusiasm about leading the junior team in their upcoming series against Australia. He emphasized the importance of fostering a supportive team environment and playing an aggressive style of cricket.

The India U19 squad is set to compete in three One-Day matches, with the first Multi-Day game scheduled in Rajkot and the second in Ahmedabad. The One-Day series will occur from September 18 to 23, while the Multi-Day matches are slated to run from September 27 to October 8.

Raichandani shared his vision for the team, aiming to cultivate a positive atmosphere where every player can excel. He stated, "It’s an honor to take on this responsibility. I’m excited and will ensure that the team works together to create a positive environment, encouraging everyone to give their all."

The captain highlighted the team's commitment to the process and their determination to support one another throughout the series. He remarked, "We will play with positivity and give our utmost effort, focusing on the process and leaving the results to follow."

In addition to his leadership role, Raichandani will share the dressing room with the sons of cricket legends Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid, Aaryavir and Anvay. He emphasized that the team's collective interests will always take precedence over individual accolades.

He stated, "The team comes first, and everyone must align with that. Each player will be treated equally, and I will provide them with the confidence they need to perform."

Currently, Lakshya plays for Mussoorie Thunder in the Dehradun T20 League 2026, where he ranks as the second-highest run-scorer, amassing 124 runs in four matches, including a half-century.

Raichandani credited the Dehradun T20 League for his growth as a cricketer, noting that it has offered him essential match practice and learning experiences. He said, "It’s an exciting tournament that has provided me with valuable practice and learning opportunities."

When discussing his experiences playing alongside seasoned players in the league, he acknowledged the importance of playing with intent and positivity. He remarked, "Playing with experienced players has taught me to approach the game with a positive mindset."
