Madrid, Spain - Kylian Mbappe is confident that his remarkable performance during the FIFA World Cup has positioned him as a strong contender for the Ballon d'Or. The Real Madrid star acknowledged that playing for such a prestigious club naturally raises expectations for individual accolades.

As he prepares for Real Madrid's Champions League match against Inter Milan, Mbappe's reputation has soared following a record-setting summer with the French national team.

The 27-year-old forward secured the World Cup Golden Boot by scoring 10 goals, bringing his total World Cup goals to 22, making him the highest scorer in the tournament's history.

"I certainly made significant history this summer in the most prestigious competition in sports, but we will see how it unfolds. I feel this could be a promising year for me, but there is still much to come, and voters are free to choose who they believe is the best player in the world," Mbappe stated.

The French captain noted that the high expectations tied to Real Madrid make conversations about the Ballon d'Or almost unavoidable.

"We need to enhance our performance," Mbappe admitted. "I could easily claim that I score more goals than Dembele and Raphinha, suggesting they need to catch up. Everyone has their unique strengths, but I prefer to approach this intelligently and acknowledge that I too have areas to improve. I dislike comparisons because I believe I contribute in ways that others may not."

While individual accolades are a topic of discussion, Mbappe emphasized that team success holds greater significance for him than personal achievements.

"I would gladly settle for 30 goals if it meant winning trophies," he asserted. "Winning titles is my priority. If I have to choose, trophies come first, but I still aim to score goals. I want to achieve both."
