Mbappe's Remarkable Achievement
Athens [Greece], November 5: Kylian Mbappe, the star player of Real Madrid, has made history by becoming the second-fastest player to achieve 100 goal contributions in his UEFA Champions League career. This milestone was reached during the match against AEK Athens on Wednesday.
In the 78th minute of the game, Mbappe netted a goal, marking his 100th contribution in the UCL, which comprises 74 goals and 26 assists, according to reports from ESPN.
He accomplished this feat in just 102 matches, trailing only behind the legendary Lionel Messi, who reached the milestone in 101 matches while playing for Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) before moving to Major League Soccer (MLS) with Inter Miami.
The record for the most goal contributions in the UCL is held by Cristiano Ronaldo, who boasts an impressive total of 182 contributions (140 goals and 42 assists).
In the match held in Athens, AEK Athens took an early lead with Aboubakary Koita scoring in the 12th minute, assisted by Luka Jovic. Although Jude Bellingham initially appeared to score from a Vinicius Jr cross, the goal was ruled offside. However, Bellingham quickly redeemed himself with a brilliant backheel goal in the 32nd minute, as reported by Goal.com.
Mbappe had a chance to score earlier when he found Marc Cucurella unmarked, but his attempt with his weaker foot failed to convert. In the 75th minute, Koita was involved again, assisting Stavro Pilo for another goal, putting AEK Athens in a strong position.
Just three minutes later, Kylian Mbappe equalized for Real Madrid after receiving a cross from Denzel Dumfries. As the match neared its conclusion, Federico Valverde sealed the victory for Madrid with a stunning shot that found the top corner, leading to a final score of 3-2.
