Kuldeep Yadav Reaches 200 ODI Wickets

Guwahati (Assam) [India], September 30: Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav marked a significant milestone by claiming his 200th wicket in One Day Internationals (ODIs) during the second match against the West Indies on Wednesday. This achievement makes him the fourth Indian spinner to reach this landmark.

In the match, Kuldeep bowled a commendable 10-over spell, taking 2 wickets for 65 runs, dismissing Shai Hope and Keem Paul.

With this performance, Kuldeep has now secured 200 wickets in just 123 innings, placing him as India's ninth-highest wicket-taker in ODIs. His bowling average stands at 26.76, complemented by 10 four-wicket hauls and two five-wicket hauls, with his best figures being 6 for 25.

He is among the fastest Indian bowlers to reach the 200-wicket mark, trailing only pacer Mohammed Shami, who achieved this in 104 matches.

Among Indian spinners, only Anil Kumble (334 wickets), Harbhajan Singh (265), and Ravindra Jadeja (232) have surpassed the 200-wicket threshold in ODIs.

This year, Kuldeep has played in six ODIs, taking nine wickets at an average exceeding 36, with his best performance being 4 for 40 against the West Indies in a previous match.

In the recent match, India won the toss and opted to field first. The West Indies posted their highest-ever ODI total of 405 for 7, thanks to explosive centuries from John Campbell (101 off 68 balls), Shai Hope (104 off 94 balls), and Amir Jangoo (114 off 77 balls).

Indian bowlers Gurnoor Brar (2 for 96), debutant Auqib Nabi (0 for 84 in 8.5 overs), and Ravindra Jadeja (2 for 75) struggled against the West Indies batting lineup, while Kuldeep Yadav's figures of 2 for 65 were the best among the Indian bowlers.
