Disciplinary Action Against Indian Pacer

In Dubai on September 14, Indian fast bowler Kranti Gaud faced a fine of 10% of her match fee following an incident involving Sri Lankan batter Imesha Dulani during the Women's Asia Cup final. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that Gaud breached Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the match held on Sunday.

According to the ICC's statement, Gaud violated Article 2.5 of the Code, which addresses inappropriate language, actions, or gestures that could incite aggression from a dismissed batter in an international match.

Additionally, Gaud received one demerit point on her disciplinary record, marking her first offense within a two-year timeframe. The incident took place in the opening over of Sri Lanka's innings when Gaud gestured towards the pavilion after dismissing Dulani. In her brief spell, she bowled two overs, conceding eight runs and claiming one wicket.

Gaud acknowledged her misconduct and accepted the penalty suggested by Supriya Rani Das from the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.

The charge was brought forth by on-field umpires Saleema Imtiaz and Shathira Jakir Jesy, along with third umpire Rokeya Sultana and fourth umpire Humaira Farah. Level 1 violations can result in penalties ranging from an official reprimand to a maximum of 50% of a player's match fee, along with one or two demerit points.

In the same tournament, India secured their eighth Asia Cup title by defeating Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the final.

In a separate incident, Pakistan was fined 5% of their match fee for a slow over-rate during their semifinal against Sri Lanka. The sanction was imposed by GS Lakshmi from the ICC International Panel of Match Referees after Pakistan was found to be one over short, considering time allowances.

According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code, players incur a 5% fine for each over their team fails to complete within the allotted time. Pakistan's captain, Fatima Sana, admitted to the offense and accepted the penalty, negating the need for a formal hearing.

The charge against Pakistan was also raised by on-field umpires Vrinda Rathi and Shathira Jakir Jesy, along with third umpire Rokeya Sultana and fourth umpire Rabab Ahsan.
