KL Rahul Returns to Delhi Capitals for IPL 2026 Season
KL Rahul's Exciting Comeback to Delhi Capitals
In a thrilling development for cricket fans, KL Rahul has officially joined the Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The team shared a video capturing his arrival at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where he showcased his signature celebration inspired by the hit Kannada film, Kantara.
Upon stepping onto the field, KL reenacted his memorable celebration from a match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in his home state of Karnataka. After scoring an impressive 93 runs off 53 balls while chasing a target of 164, he displayed an uncharacteristically animated demeanor, thumping his chest and asserting his presence on the pitch.
DC welcomed him back with a playful nod to his earlier words, stating, "Ye tera ground hai, Rahul. Welcome back home."
Last season, KL Rahul was in top form, amassing 539 runs in 13 matches with an impressive average of 53.90 and a strike rate nearing 150. He was the leading run-scorer for DC and ranked ninth overall in the league, hitting 21 sixes along the way.
Throughout his IPL career, KL has played 145 matches, scoring a total of 5,222 runs across 136 innings. His journey has included stints with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), RCB, Punjab Kings, and now DC. With an average of 46.21 and a strike rate of 136.02, he has achieved five centuries and 40 fifties. Notably, he clinched the Orange Cap in the 2020 season while with PBKS, scoring 670 runs in 14 innings.
As he aims to approach the 6,000-run milestone, KL Rahul is poised to become the fifth player in IPL history to reach this landmark, joining the ranks of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, and David Warner. Currently, he stands as the seventh-highest run-scorer in the league's history.
The Delhi Capitals will kick off their IPL campaign against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 1 in Lucknow.
