KKR's Impressive Win Against DC

New Delhi [India] - On May 9, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) delivered a commanding performance against Delhi Capitals (DC) in their IPL 2026 match, marking their fourth victory of the season and keeping their playoff hopes alive.

Under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane, KKR successfully chased down a target of 143 runs, achieving the win with eight wickets in hand and 34 balls remaining. Finn Allen played a pivotal role, scoring an unbeaten century in just 47 deliveries, significantly boosting KKR's net run rate and elevating them to seventh place in the standings.

Cameron Green, who contributed an unbeaten 33 runs, praised Allen during the post-match interview, stating, “Finn was outstanding today. He has consistently provided us with excellent starts. That’s precisely why we brought him into the team. I believe he’s among the best in the world at applying pressure.”

He further added, “Once he reaches 30 or 40 runs, he becomes extremely difficult to dismiss as he continues to accelerate. I wasn’t surprised by his performance tonight; he has been training diligently and has developed a solid approach. It was a pleasure to watch him from the other end.”

Allen's innings included 10 sixes and five fours, culminating in his first IPL century, which effectively sealed the match for KKR. He hit the winning six, completing his century with that boundary.

After starting their IPL 2026 journey without a win in the first six matches, KKR has made a remarkable comeback with four consecutive victories. Green, who was acquired for Rs 25.20 crore during the auction, faced scrutiny for his initial lack of bowling but has since contributed both with bat and ball. In his third IPL season and first with KKR, he has scored 232 runs and taken four wickets.

Reflecting on the team's morale, Green remarked, “I never felt that our belief was lost. We maintained a strong culture throughout the tournament. Even before our first win, several players noted that it didn’t feel like we had lost every match due to the positive atmosphere. This is a testament to the players and support staff for keeping spirits high, as this competition is significant for us. Losing those matches was tough, but we fought hard to regain our footing, and our bowlers have been exceptional.”

KKR's next challenge will be against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Raipur on Wednesday.
