Kieron Pollard Reflects on Rohit Sharma's Test Retirement and Upcoming Matches
Pollard Comments on Sharma's Retirement
Birmingham [UK], July 25: Kieron Pollard, the former captain of the West Indies, shared his thoughts regarding Rohit Sharma's recent retirement from Test cricket.
Pollard expressed that Sharma, having accomplished significant milestones in his career, is well aware of his future aspirations. He emphasized that Sharma's pride in his achievements will continue to motivate him.
Sharma announced his retirement from the longest format of the game in May, concluding an impressive chapter in his Test career. However, he will remain the captain of the Indian ODI team.
“This is a personal choice, and he understands his reasons for making it. As someone who has achieved so much in cricket, he knows what he wants to pursue next. His pride in his performance will always be a factor,” Pollard remarked.
“He will still represent India in the 50-over format. I don’t foresee any change in his eagerness to score runs. He is determined to perform well,” he added.
Excitement for the World Championship of Legends
Pollard also shared his enthusiasm about reconnecting with former teammates during the ongoing World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025. He expressed his excitement about being competitive once again.
“It’s wonderful to reconnect with old teammates and friends whom you don’t see often. The chance to be competitive again is fantastic, and we are looking forward to it,” Pollard stated.
West Indies Champions Team's Confidence
Ajay Sethi, the owner of the West Indies Champions Team, praised his players for their achievements in the IPL and T20 formats. He highlighted their victories against England and expressed optimism for their upcoming match against Pakistan.
“They are among the best players in the IPL and T20 formats, and their records speak volumes. This is my strongest team on paper, and they are performing well. After winning against England, we have a crucial game against Australia, and I am confident we will perform and secure a win against Pakistan,” Sethi remarked.
The West Indies Champions are set to face the Pakistan Champions in the 11th Match of WCL 2025 at Leeds on Saturday.
