Closing Ceremony Highlights the Spirit of Khelo India University Games

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India] - On December 5, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Khadse, attended the closing ceremony of the Khelo India University Games (KIUG) 2025, praising the event for promoting excellence and camaraderie among young athletes. She emphasized that the Games provided a unique platform for participants from various states to engage with and appreciate each other's rich cultural backgrounds, fostering a pathway to sporting excellence, as noted in a statement from SAI Media.


“Winning or losing is secondary; the key takeaway is the participation of athletes from all regions. This is the most significant aspect of the Khelo India University Games. Each event allows us to immerse ourselves in the local culture, learn new languages, and invigorate our sports with fresh perspectives,” Khadse remarked.


She further pointed out that sports transcend mere medal counts, serving as a form of soft power on the international stage.


“Prime Minister Modi often states that our youth represent the future of this nation. It is crucial for young people from every state to connect and appreciate diverse cultures. This understanding is vital for nation-building,” she added.


“Sports can propel our country forward as a soft power globally. I extend my congratulations to all medalists and commend those who have yet to win, as reaching this level marks a new beginning for your journey. Our goal is to promote sports in every household across the nation, as it is through sports that we cultivate unity,” she concluded.


During the Khelo India University Games, Chandigarh University successfully retained its overall championship title, showcasing exceptional performances in Canoe and Kayaking. The 12-day multi-sport event wrapped up on Friday at Poornima University, with Chandigarh University leading the medal tally with a remarkable 67 medals, comprising 42 gold, 14 silver, and 11 bronze. Lovely Professional University (LPU) secured the runner-up position with 32 gold, 25 silver, and 22 bronze medals, while Guru Nanak Dev University took third place.
