Kerala Blasters FC Triumphs Over Mohammedan SC with 3-1 Victory
Kerala Blasters Secure a Convincing Win
Kochi (Keralam) [India], May 10: In an impressive display, Kerala Blasters FC claimed a 3-1 victory against Mohammedan SC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi, marking their fifth consecutive match without defeat in the Indian Super League 2025-26 on Sunday.
Goals from Francisco Feuillassier, Victor Bertomeu, and Sreekuttan M S ensured the home team took all three points, despite Mahitosh Roy giving the visitors an early lead. Feuillassier's standout performance earned him the Player of the Match title, as reported by a Media House.
This win elevates Ashley Westwood's team to eighth place in the league standings, accumulating 14 points from 12 matches, while Mohammedan SC remains at the bottom with only three points from 11 games.
Kerala Blasters started strong, controlling possession and testing the Mohammedan defense right from the beginning. Midfielder Kevin Yoke was particularly effective on the left side, consistently pushing forward and creating chances.
Despite Kerala's dominance, Mohammedan's goalkeeper Padam Chettri made several crucial saves, including a remarkable one-handed stop to deny Yoke's header midway through the first half.
In a surprising turn of events, Mohammedan took the lead in the 42nd minute when Mahitosh Roy intercepted the ball in midfield, advanced, and unleashed a powerful shot from nearly 20 yards that found the top corner.
However, Kerala quickly equalized just two minutes later. Feuillassier capitalized on a perfectly timed through ball from Yoke, finishing smoothly into the bottom corner to level the score before halftime.
After the break, Kerala Blasters came out with renewed energy, continuing to control the game. Their efforts paid off in the 58th minute when Yoke provided a precise cross for Bertomeu, who scored with a well-placed header to give the hosts the lead.
With the momentum on their side, Kerala pressed for a third goal. Substitute Sreekuttan nearly scored shortly after, hitting the crossbar with a deflected shot, while Mohammedan struggled to create significant opportunities.
The decisive moment came in the 74th minute when Kerala extended their lead. A well-executed play saw Feuillassier deliver a clever ball into the box, allowing Sreekuttan to tap it in and make the score 3-1.
Mohammedan's chances of a comeback were dashed in the 86th minute when Amarjit Singh received a second yellow card, leaving the visitors with ten men. This made it increasingly difficult for them to penetrate a solid Kerala defense.
Kerala managed the final moments of the match with ease, maintaining possession and controlling the game's tempo to secure the victory.
