Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India] - On August 21, the defending champions Kashi Rudras showcased a remarkable all-round performance, edging out the Kanpur Superstars by a narrow margin of seven runs in the tenth match of the UP T20 League 2026, held at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.

The match, which concluded late Thursday, was significantly influenced by a stellar innings of 91 runs from opener Sahab Yuvraj Singh. After Kashi found themselves struggling at 46/4 early on, Yuvraj took charge, stabilizing the innings with a commanding performance. He reached his half-century and formed a crucial 64-run partnership for the fifth wicket alongside Shubham Chaubey, ultimately scoring 91 off 56 balls, which included seven fours and five sixes. This innings now ranks as the third-highest individual score in UP T20 history, enabling his team to set a target of 168 runs.

Post-match, Sahab Yuvraj Singh emphasized the importance of patience during the innings, stating, “The situation demanded patience, and my focus was to stay till the end and give the team a strong total. Shubham and I understood that we had to rebuild the innings, and once we got through that phase, we could attack. I am very happy that I could step up when the team needed me and put up a defendable total. The bowling unit then did a fabulous job to defend it.”

During the chase, Sunil Kumar delivered a pivotal bowling performance, taking three key wickets that shifted the momentum in favor of Kashi. With Kanpur needing 19 runs from the last two overs, Sunil returned for the crucial penultimate over, regaining control for Kashi. He concluded with impressive figures of 3/42. In the final over, Atal Bihari Rai maintained his composure, successfully defending 14 runs and helping to bowl Kanpur out for 160 runs in 19.4 overs, marking Kashi's third win in four matches.

Reflecting on the match, Sunil Kumar remarked, “The pressure was high, especially when they needed only 19 from two overs. I trusted my plans and focused on taking wickets rather than thinking about the runs. As a bowling unit, we kept believing in ourselves and trusted each other to get the job done. Atal bowled a fantastic final over and held his nerve brilliantly. It was a great team effort, and I am really happy that we could close out another important win.”

Kashi Rudras are set to face the Gorakhpur Lions next on Saturday.
