Karun Nair's Stellar Double Century Leads India A to Dominant Position Against England Lions
India A Sets a High Target in Unofficial Test
Canterbury [UK], May 31: A remarkable double century from Karun Nair, along with significant contributions from Dhruv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan, propelled India A to an impressive total of 557 all out in 125.1 overs during the second day of their first unofficial test against the England Lions.
After Nair's explosive innings concluded at 204 runs, England Lions seized the moment, with Zaman Akhter dismissing Shardul Thakur, who managed to score 27 runs off 32 balls.
Harsh Dubey and Anshul Kamboj put up a brief resistance for ten overs before Josh Hull claimed Dubey's wicket for 32 runs off 47 balls in the 120th over.
Following that, the England bowlers quickly wrapped up the Indian batting lineup within five overs.
Earlier in the day, Karun Nair entered the field determined to build on his successful strategy and make it challenging for the England Lions to take wickets. He ended the first day unbeaten on 186 and gradually found his rhythm after a few quick singles.
The 32-year-old reached his double century in the final over of the 101st over when Eddie Jack's delivery strayed off target, allowing Nair to capitalize and send the ball racing to the boundary for a four.
Throughout his innings, Nair remained composed despite a lackluster performance in the IPL and the unfolding events at the other end.
Dhruv Jurel started the day with enthusiasm, hitting a boundary to resume his aggressive batting. However, he fell just short of a century, scoring 94 runs off 120 balls before being deceived by Ajeet Dale.
Nitish Kumar Reddy showed promise but could only last for 22 deliveries before being caught by England Lions captain James Rew.
Shardul Thakur made a quick impact with a couple of boundaries, scoring 18 runs off 13 balls before Nair was dismissed by Zaman Akhter, concluding his innings at 204 runs from 281 balls.
