This event marks a significant return of international tennis to the region after two decades and aims to enhance Karnataka's presence in the global tennis arena. With a prize pool of USD 30,000 and 35 WTA ranking points, the tournament is expected to attract a competitive field of players. Official Logo Unveiled for Upcoming Tennis Tournament

Tumakuru (Karnataka) [India], March 28: On Saturday, Karnataka's Home Minister G Parameshwara introduced the official logo for the forthcoming ITF Women’s World Tennis Tour W35 Tournament set to take place in Tumakuru.


This tournament is a significant milestone in enhancing Karnataka's visibility on the global tennis stage, as stated in an official announcement.


Scheduled from May 4 to May 10, the event will occur at the Tumkur District Tennis Stadium located within the Tumkur University campus, marking the return of international tennis to the area after over twenty years.


Part of the ITF Women’s World Tennis Tour, organized by the International Tennis Federation, this tournament provides a crucial platform for players to earn professional ranking points and advance to higher-tier competitions, including the WTA Tour.


Designated as a W35 event, the tournament will feature a prize pool of USD 30,000 and offer 35 WTA ranking points. It is anticipated to draw a competitive field of both emerging and established players from around the globe. Typically, events of this nature include a 32-player singles main draw, qualifying rounds, and doubles matches, offering valuable opportunities for participants.


The logo unveiling ceremony saw the presence of key district officials, such as Subha Kalyan IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Tumakuru; K. V. Ashok IPS, Superintendent of Police; Ashwija IAS, Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Panchayat; and G. R. Amarnath, Tournament Director, showcasing robust institutional support and a collaborative effort to deliver an event of international caliber.


During his address, Parameshwara remarked, “This tournament is more than just a sporting event for Tumakuru; it represents an opportunity. By hosting an international women’s event here, we are extending sports beyond major urban centers and creating pathways for young athletes, particularly girls, to aspire for greater achievements. Such events not only provide essential exposure but also bolster the local economy and sports culture.”


Subha Kalyan, IAS, emphasized, “This is not merely about organizing a tournament; it is a chance to present Tumakuru as a viable sporting destination and unite the community through a truly global event. We are collaborating closely with the organizers to ensure that every detail, from infrastructure and logistics to security and hospitality, aligns with international standards.”
