Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], March 25: The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) held a poignant ceremony at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium today, unveiling a memorial dedicated to the 11 fans who sadly lost their lives during a stampede on June 4, 2025. This tragic event occurred during the victory parade of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) after they clinched their first Indian Premier League (IPL) title last year. The ceremony was attended by Karnataka's Home Minister, G. Parameshwara.

During the event, G. Parameshwara laid a floral tribute at the memorial, expressing his condolences to the families affected by this heartbreaking incident.

The gathering included members of the KSCA Managing Committee, senior officials, and various stakeholders.

Under the guidance of renowned cricketer Shri Venkatesh Prasad, the KSCA emphasized its dedication to responsible governance, improved safety measures, and the enhancement of cricketing facilities, while being mindful of the emotions of fans and the broader cricket community.

The Association pledged to uphold the highest safety standards for all future events at the stadium, ensuring coordination and professionalism that meet the expectations of both stakeholders and the public.

Venkatesh Prasad mentioned that a special prayer was held by the KSCA to honor the deceased and support their families. He announced that 11 seats will remain vacant during IPL and international matches at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium as a tribute.

“A special prayer was conducted to remember those we lost at the KSCA and to show their families that we care. We will keep 11 seats empty, and they will not be sold during IPL or international matches,” he stated.
