Celebration in Rewari as Kamaljeet Wins Gold

The family of shooter Kamaljeet is overjoyed following his gold medal victory in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Asian Games 2026. His parents and uncle expressed immense pride in his accomplishment, highlighting the honor it brings to their village, Haryana, and the nation.

Kamaljeet, alongside his partner Suruchi Singh, secured the gold medal, marking India's second gold at the event. The duo achieved a remarkable score of 484.6 points, surpassing South Korea, which took home the silver with 478.0 points. Iran finished third with 415.8 points, while Indonesia was eliminated with a score of 349.4 points.

In addition to their gold medal, Kamaljeet and Suruchi set a new Asian record, breaking the previous mark of 481.3 set by Uzbekistan earlier this year during the Asian Shooting Championships in New Delhi.

Back in Rewari, Kamaljeet's father, Ratiram, shared his overwhelming joy, reflecting on his son's dedication and hard work since 2019. He expressed, "Words cannot capture my happiness. The entire village is celebrating. He has consistently performed well and has returned with medals since 2019."

Kamaljeet's mother, Rajbala, also expressed her pride, stating, "Seeing my son with a medal fills me with joy. He has made our country, village, and family proud. Today, I am filled with happiness and pride."

His uncle, Dinesh Kumar, emphasized the pride felt by the entire community and encouraged parents to inspire their children to engage in sports. He remarked, "We are all proud of his achievement. It’s essential to motivate children to participate in sports so that our country continues to win medals."

The family acknowledged the significant role of Kamaljeet's coach, Shakti Pal, in his success. They noted that Kamaljeet trained at Shakti Pal's shooting range in their village and also received guidance from Rakesh, a coach from Rajgarh. Dinesh added, "Shakti Pal treated Kamaljeet like his own child and has been instrumental in his journey. We are all very happy, and the village shares in this joy."
