Jyothi Yarraji's Withdrawal from 100m Hurdles

Jyothi Yarraji, who secured a silver medal in the previous edition, has withdrawn from the initial heat of the 100m hurdles after experiencing discomfort during her warm-up session, as confirmed by a senior official from the Athletics Federation of India (AFI).

Initially included in the 75-member Indian athletics squad, Yarraji had received last-minute fitness clearance despite dealing with a minor knee stress issue.

According to the official, "She experienced pain following her complete warm-up routine."

“Jyothi was in good shape and had trained thoroughly during the preparatory camp. However, during her warm-up for the women’s 100m hurdles today, she reported discomfort, prompting the coaching staff to withdraw her from the event as a precautionary measure. Her long-term health is our priority,” the AFI stated on its social media platform.

This year marked Yarraji's return to competition after undergoing surgery in July 2025 to address an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) tear in her right knee.
