Jugraj Singh Reaches Milestone in International Hockey

Rotterdam [Netherlands], June 18: Hockey India has extended its warm congratulations to Jugraj Singh, a defender and dragflick specialist for the Indian Men's Hockey Team, who achieved the remarkable milestone of 100 international caps during a match against Germany in the FIH Pro League.


Originating from Amritsar, Punjab, Jugraj made his senior international debut in 2022 during the FIH Pro League in South Africa. He quickly became a key player in the Indian defense, known for his powerful dragflicks and solid defensive skills.


At 29 years old, Jugraj has played a pivotal role in several significant victories for India, including being part of the gold medal-winning team at the Asia Cup 2025 in Rajgir, Bihar. His accolades also feature gold medals from the Asian Champions Trophy in Chennai and China in 2023 and 2024, respectively, along with a silver medal from the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.


Expressing his joy, Jugraj stated, "It is an absolute honour to complete 100 international matches for India. Wearing the national jersey has been my lifelong dream. I am truly delighted to reach this milestone today and want to express my deepest gratitude to my family for their unconditional support. In their recent match, the Indian Men's Hockey Team showcased a strong performance, defeating Germany 3-1 in the FIH Hockey Pro League 2025-26. Goals from Mandeep Singh (7'), Shilanand Lakra (13'), and Nilakanta Sharma (35') contributed to India's impressive victory, highlighting their robust defensive strategy.


Midfielder Hardik Singh was awarded 'Player of the Match' for his outstanding performance in controlling the midfield, while Manpreet Singh broke Dilip Tirkey's record of 412 caps, becoming the most capped Indian player in history.
