Celebrations Erupt in Devank Dalal's Hometown

In Singhpura Khurd, the village of kabaddi star Devank Dalal, jubilant celebrations erupted following the Indian men's kabaddi team's triumph, securing a gold medal with a score of 40-34 against Iran at the 2026 Asian Games held in Japan on Saturday.

"The entire village is overjoyed with the Indian kabaddi team's gold medal win in Japan, where Devank played a pivotal role as a raider. He was thrilled when we spoke to him after their victory. We are now organizing a grand welcome for him in the village," shared Karamvir Dalal, Devank's uncle, with a local news outlet.

Karamvir mentioned that Devank is expected to arrive in Delhi from Japan on the night of September 27 and will head to his village the next morning.

"We plan to bring him back in an open jeep from the Delhi bypass in Rohtak. A festive procession with traditional dhols and nagadas will honor him. Additionally, a bhandara will be held in the village to celebrate this achievement and share the joy with the community," he added.

Currently serving in the Indian Army, this was Devank's debut at an international tournament. Previously, he was the highest-bid player in the Kabaddi Champions League. His younger brother, Yuvraj, is also following in his footsteps, participating in state-level kabaddi competitions.

Devank's father, Anand, works as a farmer, while his mother, Sushma, is a homemaker. His journey to the national team has been characterized by relentless dedication and hard work.

"Devank has made every villager proud by being part of the Indian kabaddi team that clinched gold in Japan. We are all eagerly anticipating his return home," expressed Krishan, a local resident.
