Kimmich's Snake Encounter at Training Camp

During the FIFA World Cup 2026, German footballer Joshua Kimmich revealed that he and his teammates spotted a venomous snake while at their national team's training camp. In an interview with a German publication, Kimmich recounted the warning they received about the potentially dangerous snake encountered during their training sessions.

He expressed surprise at the wildlife differences between Germany and the tournament location, noting that such encounters are rare back home. "Yesterday we saw the snake, and we were informed it was poisonous. If it bites you, immediate medical attention is necessary. While I don't believe it's lethal, it is certainly quite hazardous... In Germany, I always felt like we just don’t have many dangerous animals," he stated.

On a more positive note, Germany launched its FIFA World Cup journey with an impressive 7-1 victory against Curacao, marking a dominant performance. Kai Havertz's two goals highlighted a second-half scoring spree from the four-time champions.

This match not only stands as the largest victory in the current World Cup edition but also allowed Germany to surpass Brazil as the all-time leading goal-scorers in World Cup history, with 239 goals against Brazil's 238. Remarkably, this marks the fourth instance where Germany has scored seven or more goals in a World Cup match, a record unmatched by any other team.

Germany concluded the match with a commanding ball possession of 64.7%, taking 26 shots compared to Curacao's eight, who held just over 35% possession.
