Surprisingly, Rohit Sharma, despite his impressive six IPL titles, was left out of the lineup. Buttler opted for Kohli and Chris Gayle as his opening batsmen, praising Kohli's remarkable consistency throughout his career. He referred to Gayle as the greatest T20 batsman ever. In a podcast with Stuart Broad, Buttler expressed, "Kohli's sheer volume of runs and his record season of nearly 1,000 runs in a single IPL season is extraordinary. Therefore, he takes the top spot, with Gayle as his partner, as he is the most intimidating batsman to bowl to."

Middle Order and All-Rounders

In the middle order, Buttler included Suresh Raina, AB de Villiers, and Kieron Pollard. He referred to Raina as 'Mr. IPL' and highlighted his significant contributions to Chennai Super Kings.
