He praised Rohit’s extensive experience in World Cups and highlighted Virat’s relentless drive, dubbing him the "ultimate finisher" of matches.
Transitioning into a new venture, Jonty has taken on the role of co-owner for the Rotterdam Dockers in the inaugural European T20 Premier League (ETPL).

Discussing Rohit’s significance, Jonty noted that while physical fitness and talent are crucial, the experience gained from participating in high-pressure tournaments like the World Cup is invaluable, making Rohit a significant asset.
“It’s essential to recognize that World Cup experience is a factor often overlooked. We tend to focus on players' talent and past performances. However, when it comes to high-pressure situations, a World Cup is incredibly intense,” he explained.
“Players can manage their physical condition, but mental resilience is a critical aspect that is frequently neglected during selection. Having played in four World Cups without advancing past the semi-finals, I understand the immense stress involved. Thus, having Rohit Sharma in the squad is a tremendous advantage during a World Cup,” he added.
Rohit has participated in three World Cups from 2015 to 2023, consistently excelling, notably being the top run-scorer in the 2019 tournament in the UK with 648 runs across nine matches, including five centuries and one fifty.
Overall, he ranks as the fourth-highest run-scorer in World Cup history, amassing 1,575 runs in 28 matches at an impressive average of 60.57, which includes seven centuries—the highest by any player in World Cup history—and six fifties.
On the topic of Virat, Jonty remarked that Virat’s fierce competitiveness aligns with that of Australia, a six-time World Champion, and noted his "absolute hunger" to secure victories for his team.
“We’ve seen Australia dominate World Cups with their aggression and the expectation to win. Virat embodies that same spirit, demonstrating an unwavering desire to lead his team to victory,” he stated.
“As a leader and captain, being the best chaser globally showcases his determination to ensure the team crosses the finish line. His consistent ability to chase down scores makes him the ultimate finisher for India,” he continued.
“Virat thrives on that competitive edge. Unlike many players who may lose focus, he remains fully engaged while batting. His passion for the game and his drive to win for India, regardless of his captaincy status, is remarkable,” he concluded.
Virat stands as the second-highest run-scorer in World Cup history, with 1,795 runs in 37 matches at an average of 59.83, including five centuries and 12 fifties.
With a staggering 14,941 runs in 314 ODIs at an average of 58.59, including 54 centuries and 79 fifties, Virat is regarded as one of the greatest ODI batsmen ever.
His record in successful run-chases is exceptional, having scored 6,235 runs in 111 matches at an average of 89.07, which includes 24 centuries and 29 fifties.
This year, Virat has accumulated 384 runs in six innings at an average of 64.00 and a strike rate exceeding 106, featuring one century and three fifties. Rohit, on the other hand, has faced fluctuations, scoring 379 runs in nine innings at an average of 42.11, with a strike rate above 99, including one century and one fifty, with his highest score being 138 against England at Lord’s.
