Jintimani Kalita Makes History with Selection in Indian Women's T20I Squad

Jintimani Kalita has made history by being selected for the Indian Women's T20I squad for the upcoming Zimbabwe tour in 2026. As the second woman cricketer from Assam to join the national team, her selection is a proud moment for the state. Celebrating Jintimani Kalita's Selection

Guwahati (Assam) [India], October 8: The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has expressed its heartfelt congratulations to Jintimani Kalita for her inclusion in the Indian Women’s T20I team for the upcoming tour to Zimbabwe in 2026.


Jintimani, who is a right-arm medium-fast bowler and a left-handed batter hailing from Assam, has achieved her first selection in the senior women's national team. She is now the second female cricketer from Assam to earn this honor.


In a statement, the ACA conveyed, “We wish Jintimani Kalita all the best as she embarks on this thrilling new chapter in her cricket career, bringing pride to Assam on a national platform.”


The Indian women's T20I team will be captained by Smriti Mandhana, with matches scheduled to take place in Raipur on October 16, 18, and 20, 2026. This series marks a significant milestone as India Women will compete against Zimbabwe in their inaugural bilateral international series, which includes three T20Is and three ODIs.


Smriti Mandhana takes over the captaincy from Harmanpreet Kaur, who resigned from her leadership role on October 6, concluding her tenure.


India’s T20I Squad includes: Smriti Mandhana (c), Shafali Verma, Niki Prasad, Harmanpreet Kaur, Anushka Sharma, Richa Ghosh, G Kamalini, Deepti Sharma, Prema Rawat, Sree Charani, Nandni Sharma, Kranti Gaud, Arundhati Reddy, Jintimani Kalita, and Minnu Mani.


India’s ODI Squad features: Smriti Mandhana (c), Shafali Verma, Pratika Rawal, Harmanpreet Kaur, Harleen Deol, Tejal Hasabnis, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh, Yastika Bhatia, Vaishnavi Sharma, Nandni Sharma, Sree Charani, Kranti Gaud, Sayali Satghare, and Renuka Thakur.
