Jemimah Rodrigues' Injury Impact on Southern Brave

New Delhi, August 8: Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues will miss the remainder of The Hundred after suffering a hamstring injury.

Rodrigues, who was signed by Southern Brave for £60,000 (around US$80,000), has been a standout player for the franchise this season.

With 143 runs across six innings, she has significantly contributed to Brave's impressive performance, helping them secure a joint-top position in the women's league with 20 points, alongside Trent Rockets, who lead based on net run rate.

The 25-year-old has also earned two Player-of-the-Match accolades, making her absence a considerable setback for Southern Brave as they approach the crucial stages of the tournament.

This situation poses a challenge for Brave, especially with only two matches left to clinch an automatic spot in the finals, facing Manchester Super Giants and Trent Rockets in their upcoming games.

Additionally, her injury raises concerns for the Indian national team, as the Women’s Asia Cup is set to commence in the UAE later this month.

The severity of Rodrigues' hamstring injury is still unknown, and her withdrawal may be a precautionary step to safeguard her fitness and avoid further complications. India is scheduled to kick off their campaign against Thailand in Dubai on August 30, just 22 days away.

In response to her injury, Brave has swiftly signed Australian allrounder Charli Knott, who returns to the Utilita Bowl after previously playing for the team in the 2024 season.

Knott has had a remarkable T20 summer in England, amassing 404 runs and taking 27 wickets, the highest in the competition, during The Blaze's victorious Vitality Blast campaign.
