On July 13, in Rome, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed her congratulations to Jannik Sinner, the World No. 1, for successfully defending his title at Wimbledon. She remarked that the young athlete has added another significant chapter to Italy's sports legacy.

Following Sinner's remarkable win, Meloni took to social media platform X to commend the 24-year-old for clinching the prestigious Grand Slam title for the second consecutive year.

In her post, she stated, "With the victory at #Wimbledon, secured for the second year in a row, #Sinner writes another page in the history of Italian sport. Thank you, champion!"

Sinner triumphed in the men's singles final against Alexander Zverev with a score of 6-7(7), 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4, successfully retaining his Wimbledon crown.

This victory marks Sinner as the 10th player in history to defend the Wimbledon men's singles title, extending his winning streak against Zverev to an impressive 10 matches.

After an early exit at the French Open, Sinner bounced back to secure his sixth ATP title of the year, while Zverev's aspirations for back-to-back Grand Slam victories were dashed despite reaching his second consecutive major final.

With this latest win, Sinner has increased his lead over rival Carlos Alcaraz in the race for 'Big Titles.'

Sinner's victory over Zverev brought his total to 17 Big Titles, which encompass Grand Slam titles, ATP Finals trophies, ATP Masters 1000 titles, and Olympic singles gold medals. In contrast, Alcaraz has 15 Big Titles, as reported by the ATP website.
